Thanks for the information everyone. Listed below are some additional steps to add pause dialing to your voice mail.
- From the home screen, touch the applications tab (located on the bottom of the screen).
- Touch Settings.
- Touch Call settings.
- Touch Voicemail settings.
- Touch the Voicemail number field.
- Touch the pound (#) key.
- Touch the desired option keys.
Repeat as necessary. One pause is usually all that is required.
- Pause
- --Inserts a 2-second pause between the number dialed and the additional numbers.
- Wait
- --Inserts a hard wait that will cause the system to wait for additional input before continuing.

If you are on phone and inputing phone number and then press left menu button you will see the Add Pause and Wait options to add to number and then you can save number.. I have learmed the "Wait" option works best..

@Wildman - have you actually gotten this to work? I can't seem to get it to work as the OP either.
I have the following in my Voice Mail number : *86;nnnn# (where nnnn is my password) .. What happened is get the "Please enter your p/w and press #". When I look at my phone's display, there is a popup that says" Send ringtone nnnnn?" and is waiting for me to send it.
So clearly not working.

When you use a wait symbol(semi-colon in this instance), your phone will WAIT for you to let it know when to send the password. If you use 1 or more pause symbols(comma in this instance), your phone will automatically send the password after a specified period of time.(2 or 3 seconds, I believe) What you have to figure out if you want to use the pause, is how many pauses will be needed before the voicemail system will be ready to accept your password. If you use too few pauses, your password will be sent BEFORE your voicemail is ready to accept it. If you use too many pauses, you will have passed the time when your voicemail will accept your password. Personally, I use 3 pauses and it has never failed to work correctly.

It looks to me as if you have *86 followed by 3 pauses(commas) and 1 wait(semi-colon) followed by your password followed by the pound sign. This will have the effect of calling voicemail waiting ~6 seconds(3 commas) and then waiting indefinitely(1 semi-colon) until you hit the send(not sure if this is what you hit, since I don't use wait symbols in my contacts) at which time your password and the pound sign will be sent.
I have *86,,,password#
Always works.
