Re: want 2.2 upgrade for moto Droid now or going w/ new I Phone bye bye

I personally can't wait for Froyo. However, I am in not huge rush. The largest improvements I am looking at getting is the browser (but its pretty fast now anyway) and of course full flash, instead of flash lite. Honestly, I don't see too much that is making me [excited] in anticipation. Its going to take time. I can't see why anyone would jump ship over a phone update...ok, I am sure the Eris people were getting **bleep** that it took so long...but still. It will come, and by time it does I will be ready for another new phone a short period after that I am sure. By then, new phones will be shipping with 2.2...or perhaps even 2.3.

I, for one, would never want an update to an operating system on my phone if the carrier didn't think it was ready.  Even after they say it's ready, it "bricks" a few phones.  I patiently/impatiently waited for the "CF03" update on my Omnia so we could have GPS capabilities. It took Verizon over 6 months after they announced they would unlock the Omnia's GPS before they finally pulled the trigger. The update has worked perfectly for me since I installed it (Knock on wood)

I've been eligible to upgrade since March, and way back in July of '09 was waiting for the release of the O2. It was released in Dec '09 but remember, I couldn't upgrade 'til March of 2010. Anyway before March came around, the rumors of the HTC EVO 4G started.  Well, I live in Honolulu, HI and we're one of the cities already "wired" for 4G. (And according to Sprints coverage maps, my home and business are in the 4G covered areas) So, now I'm waiting for June 4th, (release day for the EVO) but I'm still not going to get one, I'll most likely wait another month or so to see how the phones actually work here in Honolulu.

I've been with Verizon for over 10 years and never had a problem with service or phones and at this time really like my Omnia.  If I go to Sprint for the EVO it won't be because I'm upset with Verizon.  If I ultimately decide not to go with the EVO, I will probably go with the Incredible,  because it's very simular to the EVO, minus the 4G capabilty of course and a slightly smaller screen.

So, we'll see. EVO or Incredible.....  Being patient and not having to have the latest & greatest on the day they come out has served me well.  Besides, if I get the EVO and don't like it, I can return it within 30 days and as history has shown, Verizon will offer me alot to come back into the fold.
