It is just an indicator.. you can try different battery indicators from the market.

ive noticed it doesnt matter which battery indicator you have. the incredible and eris both drop in increments of 1 but the D2 drops in increments of 10... annoying but ill live with it.

That is the difference of motoblur vs sense... the ui skin on the HTC phones is much better, and that is one example of why.
