How come, when I am connected to Wi-Fi at work, everything is fine. But, if I am connected on  Wi-Fi at home, I cannot connect at all to my facebook or internet, unless I disconnect Wi-Fi and connect only to my mobile network?

OK, is the router password protected, security enabled????  What security is used on your router??? (WPA, WPA2, .....) Also, some routers one to allow users by their MAC address so the phone may not be allowed into the router.

My phone says I am connected to the wi-fi when I am home. What should I be looking for comparing phone and my computer and how?

From the main screen, Clcik on MENU>SETTINGS>WIRELESS & NETWORK. Under WIFI Setting options, does the connection show a lock??? If so is this where it shows you are connected???

Whether there is a lock or not, you may be connected but you still may need to have your MAC address in the approved list. Are you the one who set up the home router???

Also when connected, how many bars are showing for the WiFi connection.

I will check at home.(I am work now)  I remember saying it was connected. Asked for a password at the time which I did, so I know it was conencted. In fact, looks the same as here at work. Signal strenth is great. work and home. I did set up the home router, what do you mean by a MAC address. maybe totally unrelated, but its IE all the way here.

A MAC Address is A Media Access Control address (MAC address) a unique identifier assigned to network interfaces for communications on the physical network segment. addresses or block specific address.

I would also unplug the router for a minute, shut off your phone, power up the router, then the phone and see if you can access web pages.

I will check when I get home. How can I tell with the MAC address? I didn't block anything on my router, just plugged it in to get it started. Its one of those Valet Plus wireless routers with my verizon wired router.

Work does not have any restriction aside for entering a passcode.

Are you the person who set up the home router?

I would when you get home is delete the connection on your phone and start over. Be sure to not only enter the correct password, but you should be asked also what type of protection is on the router.... WEP, WPA, WPA2

UPDATE. Ignore all I have said, ........I think I have found the issue. The Valet + is a Wireless N.   The Inc nor any other Droid that I know of is compatible with N. Droids are B or G Compatible. Most routers usually offer B&G or N.  I bet that is the issue.

Well this is wierd, it works when I am sitting in front of my computer. And just ran downstairs and it seems to be working down there too. Don't know what happened. Guess we will see later on this afternoon. lol. So, when you have wi-fi, does the mobile network just disconnects. What benefit is this? Less battery use?

If you have a live WIFi connection you will not see the 3G icon on the screen, but an icon of a dot with 1,2,or 3 half circles above it showing how strong a WiFi signal you have.

I have noticed now that I have moved from a home with minimal signal and no WiFi to a place where I have a constant WiFi conenction that my battery lasts MUCH longer.

I am at 15 hours of Up time with 2 hours of Awake time and  I still have 75% battery left.

Just thought I should mention that the Droid Incredible does in fact support wireless N if it has Android 2.2.  (One of the messages in the thread seemed to imply that the Incredible is only B/G compatible.)

Hmmm, I will have to look at the specs again. I took it from HTC's web site.

I looked at Verizon's Specifications which they mention 2.2 and all, but there it lists the  WiFi is compatible with b/g. There is no mention of N.

The specs are correctly updated in the PDF manual that is available on the VZW support website.  To access, click on Support->Device, select the Incredible, and then select Device Manual.  The wifi capability specs are on pg 302.

By the way, the HTC site is very out-of-date--looks like they're not really interested in keeping the Incredible in the forefront anymore.  As an example, under the support section for the Incredible, one of the FAQs is, "Can I install apps to my microSD card?", and their answer is no.  This was one of the Froyo improvements that was pretty well-publicized, but HTC didn't bother to update the info on their site.
