Blank screen?

My screen went black today and I am wondering if anyone knows anything about this. The phone is still on but I cannot see anything at all.

Perform a soft reset by holding the power button and the down volume key.

It could be cause by many things, but this should get it running properly for a time or at least let you know if it's a hardware issue.
