Bought phone last night, turned on phone when I woke up in morning and got charged 0.25GB of data? Does this make sense? All I did was turn it on, did nothing else.

New contract, new phone last night, turned the phone on this morning and the data was charged 0.25GB at the same time? I did not do anything but turn my Droid Maxx on, thats it. Spoke with rep from the store today when she did follow up call, she had no explanation and suggested customer service. Not a great start after being a Cingular- ATT customer for 13 years.

New phone so very possible apps updated. So yes make perfect sense. Also I believe the Maxx recently got updated to Kitkat so that could be it too. Your phone may not have been updated before you got it so it updated as soon as you turned it on. All you have to do is look at your settings look at mobile data and it will tell you what used you data.

I can almost guarantee the apps updated automatically. Being on limited data, it's completely wrong and absurd for Verizon to set them to download automatically. Android apps aren't nearly as compact as they used to be. Google Chrome alone is about 30 MB's.

It's a sad day in time when we have to go back to worrying about a 30 MB download.

Verizon doesn't set apps to auto update unless it's their own. If Google Chrome auto updates that has ZILCH to do with Verizon. And you can change those settings. I have my apps to update over wi-fi only. You can also have it set to not to auto update at all. Open up the Google Play app go to settings click Auto-update apps.

That's incorrect. Google Play is set to download automatically by default and it can be switched, and with the speed of LTE, by the time you realize they're downloading, they're usually already done.

For reasons above, there is no reason for anything to be set to download automatically.

Wouldn't surprise me during the setup process things were syncing...

Google services (Contacts, Picasa/Photos, Browser, etc)

Facebook

Twitter

Email

and what else that he could have setup. 250MB isn't surprising especially when picasa/photos, Twitter, and Facebook is syncing.

The Play Store is setup to auto update when on WiFi by default.  You can change it to any time however.
