Can't make phone calls or send or receive tests

I can get on internet, but when I try to make a call I get the message...No Network available.  Only emergency calls can be made.  What's the deal?  I powered down, but that still didn't fix it.  Airplane mode is off.  Whatelse can be wrong?

By getting on the Internet, do you mean your WiFi at home?  For some reason your phone is not registering on Verizon's wireless system.  Try a soft reset; hold the volume/down button and the power button simultaneously for 10-15 seconds.  If that doesn't work, power down your phone remove the SIM, power on, then power down again and reinsert the SIM, power on and see if your phone registers on the Verizon system.

If all fails call Verizon Support from another phone.

I can get online with my phone.  I can do everything but make a phone call or receive/send texts.  I tried all the suggested advice and it still has the same message.  I only have one phone!  I canceled my home phone service.

Try this.

Go to settings, under data usage hit more, select mobile networks, check the preferred network mode. On my razr maxx if I have other than Global I get the same message you report.

I want to make sure you keep in touch with friends and loved ones Momto3Cs! Are you still having difficulties? Is this happening in multiple areas? Have you tried a basic power cycle on the phone? How about connecting it to the charger? Are any others in your area having similar difficulties?

We will get to the bottom of this!

I travel a lot and get the message "no sim card" - I get this message intermittently and it's a disaster - can't use maps to get to the airport, etc.  I have to several Verizon stores and am told that a tower must be having trouble or something.  If I take out the sim card and replace it - SOMETIMES it comes back up, sometimes not.  I have almost missed 2 flights because I rely on the darn thing to tell me how to get there.  Shouldn't Verizon give me a new card or at least be concerned.  They always tell me I must have my Wi-Fi set up wrong.  They check it and hand the phone back to me.

Today - I just flew in last night and am at home and can't make a call - once again "no sim card" and now it's telling me that my SD card is empty and needs to be formatted.  Yikes this is getting serious.  I treat the phone like gold and it has not been damaged in any way.

Please advise.
