Dead Droid Guy

I am having the freezing & shut off problem that others are having. When I get it to turn back on/reboot I get a picture of the droid guy laying down like he's dead. see image attached. what does this mean?

This is the Android Recovery Screen.  To get past the "Dead Android Guy":

From the Android system recovery screen (Dead Android Guy), press and hold the Volume down key, then press the Volume up key, then release Volume up followed by releasing Volume down.  (Read this carefully and do what it says.)

You will be presented with a menu where you can reboot, wipe cache, factory reset, etc.  Use the Volume Up/Down keys to navigate and the power button to select.
