How is Yahoo setup on your device? Exchange? The Yahoo app? Pop3? IMAP?
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

I don't know. I've only had the phone about a month. New to smart phones.

If you know of someone more knowledgeable about email setups, have them help you find out. The setup of the email determines whether or not you have the option to sync your contacts and how the email interacts with your phone.

I believe it happens in the download app for Y Mail.
There is a little checkbox on the bottom when you set up the yahoo account. if you don't uncheck the box that is how it imports the contacts in your phones contact list.
If you forgot to uncheck it the only way I found is to delete the duplicates from the phones contacts list. Sorry.
however after the account is set up, the merge contacts does not add to your contact list when checking for email.
Yahoo should of had this feature set to off and allowed the user to turn it on if they desired.
