I just put a Droid Turbo for sale on Ebay, and had someone ask me for the ESN

number and the IMEI number. Is this information I should release? It sounds like a scam to me, like someone wants to steal the numbers and flash them to another phone. What are your feelings on this??

Thanks,

Doug

They may want to ensure that the phone is 'clean' before submitting a bid by checking the ESN/IMEI on a site such as:

ESN / IMEI / MEID Check (Free) > Swappa

While all of that is possible, you have to decide whether or not it is worth it to seem like an up-front seller.  Swappa requires the ESN so that the phone can be checked before selling.  Other places may not.
