Everything here assumes you have done all Verizon system updates.

Since the most recent update, have you cleared your system cache? See

below for how to do that.

I noticed elsewhere in this thread a comment about 3rd party app

interference.  That is also a possibility.  Something may have changed

in Android to bring about a conflict.

Verizon loves to include "free" apps when they do an update.  I go

through and remove most of those.  If an app cannot be removed, it can

usually be deactivated.

One other possibility is System UI Tuner.  If you have that activated,

it can cause problems.  To remove it, go into Settings => System UI

Tuner and click the three vertical dots in the upper right corner.

Select the option that appears, "Remove from Settings".

Please note that if you have opted to "show Battery Percentage in status

bar", my experience has been that going into System UI Tuner will turn

that off - every time.

Hope this helps.

The following instructions are from

https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/prod_answer_detail/a_id/108278/p/30,6720,958...

1. Power off the device and unplug it.

2. Press and hold the Volume Down button. *While still holding Volume

Down button*, press and release the Power button.

3. Press and release the Volume Down button until you reach Recovery Mode.

4. Press and release the Power button to select Recovery Mode. The

device will restart. An image of an Android robot with a red

    exclamation mark will appear.

5. Press and hold the Power button, press the Volume Up button once

and then release the Power button.

6. Use the Volume buttons to scroll to Wipe Cache Partition and

press the Power button to select it. If an additional confirmation

screen appears, use the Volume buttons to scroll to Yes and the

    Power button to select it.

7. Once the cache wipe has completed, press the Power button to

    select Reboot System Now.
