Since installing the update I don't have 3G or 4G icons or service. How do I fix that?

Try turning off the phone, removing the SIM card, waiting a few minutes, replacing the SIM card, then turn the phone back on ... maybe a fresh network connection will correct the issue. If not, you may want to do a system cache clear (instructions are in multiple threads on this forum; let me know if you can't find them).

Oh wow professorcoach02, let's restore your data connection. Thanks tikibar for your tips! Professor, also make sure that your data connection is still turned on by going to Settings, Data Usage. Check under Settings, More as well.
Let me know if you're still having problems connecting to 3G and 4G.

I have the same issue - not getting service in our house after years of having no issues. Our phones are constantly draining the batteries searching for service. After a trouble ticket was issued they tell me there is no issue on their end and I now need to spend $150 for a Network Extender. Not going to happen. I have not ever had this issue for this period of time. Something on their end has changed. I am now looking at a new service provider.

As Tiki pointed out you might Try doing a Power Reset Press the Power Button + Lower Volume Button at the same time wait 30 seconds let off then let the phone re-power and observe in the upper part of the Phone if the issue remains you could try a System Cache but for an issue with the indicators i would do a Factory Reset the latest OS was big and it might have some effect on the issue you described. Also on my phones i switched from Global to LTE / CDMA in my settings..
Another thing you can look at and Tiki pointed out is the Sim Card you could have a bad Sim or if it got Touched when it was installed it could have over time went bad). Sim Cards and Oils & static electricity Don't Mix and we have both in our bodies up to our Finger so Handling a Sim Card is at the Up-most importance don't let a Rep. tell ya Different and they will.. Some will tell ya Au it won't hurt if there Touched Well it's not going into there Phone..
So just a reminder And i hope it gets to working for ya.. b33
