I just bought the Droid RAZR MAXX. Love the phone itself, it's my very first smartphone and it seems
to be a great phone except for one big problem.... I went through all the steps to set up my phone and
yet when I turn on Wifi all it does in continue to scan for a signal. I'm from Farmington MN and from what I can
tell it looks like there should be coverage here where I'm from. Can someone please help give me some advice?
Everything else about the phone I LOVE but if I can't get on the net and use all my apps then the phone
is not going to help me that much.
Thanks!
Micah

Are you talking about wifi or Verizon Broadband coverage? What coverage map are you talking about? Wifi would be something that you would have at your house, or someplace like Dunkin Donuts, Panera, etc. I know there are some towns out there also that have a wifi mesh setup for their residents to use.

I would first verify that there is wifi around that you can connect to. Can you try another device to verify if there is?

There is No coverage maps for Wi-Fi there Bud. Wi-Fi comes from you using a Modem then Connected to a Router or a Modem / Router Combination and it's then is Supplied through D.S.L. or your Cable company.! are sure what you Have.?

The coverage maps are for Verizon service not wi-fi. Wi-fi is how your computer can connect to your internet connection wirelessly. If you don't have a wi-fi connection near you then of course you can't connect. Oh and if you don't I would shut off wi-fi since that will drain your battery it constantly searching for a wi-fi signal.

Thank you for the helpful answers. Yes I'm a newbie, what I was really going for was to be able to check my email and all that good stuff. I kept thinking in order to do that I need Wifi working because I was not getting any signal and it would not let me check my mail ect. I could not get any signal other then just being able to make calls. I went through some settings and once I updated my phone I was able to use VZ Nav as well as email ect. I didn't realize that right out of the box the phone needed these updates. Learning step by step but I can say this much so far. I think this phone is amazing after having the Motorola Krave ZN1 for a long time. That phone was a nightmare right out of the box. Hit one key and it would register another. Screen would go black and never come back on. This phone is really amazing to me and battery life is great.

You mention using VZ Navigator? You might want to use Google Navigation rather than that. I think they charge you for VZ NAV use. Google NAV is available out of the Play Store for free, and there is no charges what so ever for it's use. Just look for Google's "MAPS" app, and Navigation comes along with it. And if you then install "Google Street View" app, when you are close to your destination, Street View will actually show you a picture of the building where you should be. It was really cool the first time I saw that..
Hope everything works great for you with the phone, Yes, it is an amazing phone.

If you are in area code 504 I believe all coverage is down. I have MiFi and phone and both currently show scanning for service
