Razr Maxx auto rotate

I hate being a member of some clubs, and this is one I'm in.

Scenario

I got phone as part of Valentines day shipping deal. Around March 1 I started feeling comfortable with the phone and downloaded my first app - Smart Tools.

First saw rotate problem was about 1 week after installing Smart Tools paid app.

FIRST time it happened I did the Autorotate check/uncheck thing and it actually started working.

However, since then, only a reboot works.

I usually see this happen in the evening after:

Phone has been on about 10 hours in industrial plant (get 3G and 4G intermittant - no wifi.)

Used Blue Tooth in car on drive home

On occasion, the rotate isn't working during the day. At work I don't check it very much because of signal issues.

Some things we should all start recording might be

Running App

Battery Level

Run time since last charge

Charging System in use - Dock, wall plug, car, etc...

Lets figure this thing out folks, who's with me!

Club.!  Really i thought this was a Forum.. As for the Trouble your having i would get Rid of that App or i would Run that Phone in Safe Mode an find what 3 party apps are throwing Curve Balls at it..

i started having this problem within hours of getting the phone.  don't think i had any apps at that point that weren't bloatware.  i have also noticed that it seems to happen after charging though (maybe that is just when i happen to try it)...

Are you turning the Razr off when your Charging it you might try that an see if that helps any and charging with the charger that came with the Razr is the Best tool to Use..b33

It's frustrating. With me, when I take my Razr Maxx out of it's holster, it stays in landscape mode even when I keep it upright in portrait mode. My solution, which helps me, and may help a few others, is to go into Settings>Display and uncheck automatic rotation. When I know that I will be going into landscape mode, such as You Tube, I go back and recheck it. It's a minor pain to have to do this, but I would rather do this than have my maxx in landscape for an indefinite period of time. Maybe, one day, maybe Motorola will get enough complaints and actually do something about this Portrait/Landscape switchover. By the way, I'm not holding my breath.

sir, we are all aware that we can do something to temporarily fix the issue.  what we are hoping for is a permanent fix for the issue.  having the reboot, turn the phone off to charge, download a third party screen control apps, carry around one specific charger, etc are all big inconveniences that we try to avoid by buying a premium phone vs going for a free smartphone.

i am searching the forums in hopes of an actual solution or some sign that motorola is going to fix this in the upcoming update.  i am not searching for someone to tell me that i should be happy with rebooting my phone twice a day to get my phone into landscape (or out of landscape for some apparently).

Mortb is it the black flap Holster i have one an it has a Magnet that helps Keep the flap closed do you the magnet might be causing something there. Make me wonder there a little

b33, does motorola feed your children or what?  i'm having a hard time understanding why you want to continually try to find ways to justify that this isn't an issue with our phones.

Let me help you:

you have the magnet and apparently don't have the problem.  so that probably isn't it.

i don't have the magnet and certainly do have the problem (along with many other people)

we all have different combinations of apps installed, and also some of us had the problem before loading anything

ITS AN ISSUE WITH THE PHONES.  NOT a third party app, or a magnet on a holster

the only thing i have to say regarding all of this, is that certain sw i use rotates regardless. i've had the maxx for 3 weeks now, with no problems whatsoever...

No.!  But i love kids though there our future and i'm an Uncle but non are in the Future for me. And to be strait up with ya i'm not an a butt kisser an when i think something is wrong with one of my Devices i say what i feel on here but in respectful kind of way.  As of now No i'm not seeing or having the issues that you are experiencing in your Razr.  Now that's not say it won't happen an there are occasions were the screen does not want to Rotate but i deal with it an if it's still acting up then i post with a Question on it or ask one the Guys if there having the Same issue.. that's what i do.. Also i charge my phones with them off and i use one of my Motorola Chargers i never Charge Via the Computer..
