Screen assurance not for the blue one.....

My Turbo 1 finally cracked the screen. Unable to work without any phone at all I pulled the SIM, and started using my Maxx. In the process of waiting in my new Turbo 2 to arrive. Now I'm using the Turbo 2, but I still would like to have the Turbo as my backup, and sell the Maxx. The store said they can't warrant the phone since it's not on the account anymore. Of course they all argued that the Turbo is only a 1yr replacement........ I had to look it up, and show that the Verizon site lists it at 2yrs aside from the blue ballistic. Is my Turbo still covered for screen assurance even though it's been off the account since breaking? And how can I go about replacing if it is still under the assurance program. The phone is perfect otherwise, and I have no doubt it qualifies as far as the condition of the phone goes.

Have you considered going directly through Motorola for the warranty repair?

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

It's not a Motorola warranty though right? If it was wouldn't the blue ballistic be covered under the assurance warranty also??

Verizon Wireless is only facilitating the warranty for Motorola. Insurance is through a third party vendor, Asurion. If you go directly to Motorola, you cut out the middle man (VZW) and it might open you to more warranty options like sending the phone to Motorola for repair and you get your phone back or a replacement depending on the damage determination.

The warranty option through Verizon Wireless is a replacement with the certified pre-owned device and that's it.

It is not a Motorola warranty at all.... It's a Verizon exclusive repair. I would rather not just send Motorola a free Turbo. I'm gong to switch SIM cards before going into the store. That way the phone will be back on my account, and problem solved. Big surprise I had to teach Verizon store clerks any their own product. They know nothing about Motorola, and it really shows.

Your phone is warranteed by the manufacturer, in this case, Motorola. Accessories like cases, screen protectors, etc. are under warranty from the manufacturer of those products. Verizon doesn't manufacture phones or accessories, with the possible exception of the Ellipsis tablet. That is Verizon branded but I don't have a clue who actually MAKES them. Therefore, Verizon doesn't set the terms of the warranty for Motorola, Samsung, Apple, or any other company. Those companies issue a warranty that Verizon then facilitates, much like a clinic or hospital handles your insurance claims, but doesn't underwrite the insurance itself.
