You don't need an application to create screenshots. Holding down the power button and the volume down button at the same time for a few seconds until the screen flashes is what creates the screenshot.

The DROID 2 is a really old phone.  Are you sure that is the model name of the phone you have?

Droid Turbo 2. Sorry. I think I solved the problem. I added a screenshot app.

Ann154 is correct if your are running Android 5.1. Holding down the power button and the volume down button at the same time for a few seconds until the screen flashes is what creates the screenshot. If you are running Marshmallow 6.0 its a whole new ball game. Follow the instruction in the link below.

Others have nailed it already. There is one other option to create a screen shot that is even easier depending on if your looking to share the screen shot. On Android Marshamallow you simple do the following:

Long press the home button. this pulls up the Google Now menu.. then tap on the share icon... you can then share the screen shot via SMS, email, etc.

I think that is the Google on Tap option where you see the share option. I turned that part of Google Now off since it wasn't as functional as I thought.

Just out of curiosity - can you still take a screenshot with the power/volume down combo in Marshmallow?  The Google on Tap method says it doesn't allow you to save the screenshot; quite often I save the screenshot to edit before sharing, and not all the ways I "share" are listed (such as posting to this forum, using in training docs, among others).

Does Marshmallow give you the option to take and save a screenshot. as well as the quick share?

The power button and the volume down button still works in Marshmallow.
