Trouble with my wifi

I can't seem to get my home wifi to work.  It used to work, but will not connect any longer.  I have the wifi turned on.  My network is saved, secured and the password is correct (I triple checked).  Signal strength is excellent.  My security is, has been always WEP.  When I click connect..... nothing happens.  The icon on top does not show it connected, and when I go to an app, the  4G arrows are working.  NO WIFI    HELP!

First a question or a couple of questions. Did you recently get a phone update like to Jelly Bean?

What model of Modem-Router do you have?

The reason I ask the first is because its a common problem that the JB update does not play nice with a certain number of routers or modems. you can however try the following:

Turn off your modem, router and cell phone and leave them all off for a few minutes. Then turn the modem back on and let it cycle back up fully. Then do the router same way. Then power up your cell and when fully powered up go to your WiFi connections and search for your home network name, then click connect and enter your security key. If it connects with no problem you are all set.

Secondly, if this does not work you can see if your router needs a firmware update. If the update works your issued is solved. But if you go to google and in the search bar list your modem or router as "My xxxxxx router does not connect to my phone after the Jelly Bean update" it will tell you if its one that is not supported. You then can buy a new router or if supplied by your dsl or cable provider they can give you a update router or modem.

Hopefully this will be easier for you? You can also enter the routers etc not supported in the forum search box for the list.  Good Luck

I forgot to mention, I am trying to get my Droid to connect to my home wifi.  My wifi works fine with other computers, game consoles, etc in the house.

Have you tried to 'forget' the home WiFi and then re-acquire it on your Razr?

Should have no effect. There can be hundreds of connections to a router.

Some cable services and DSL allow up to 14 but that is not a problem since the router assigns the addresses.

Thank you all for taking the time to help out! I really appreciate it!

@k9smom,

I use WiFi at home all the time to help manage my data usage so I definitely understand how important it is to have it working properly.

Are you having issues with the WiFi for your home Internet or is it a Jetpack or MiFi from Verizon Wireless? What device are you using? Are you able to connect to the WiFi with other devices ?

I'm sure we can work together and get this resolved.

Yes, the phone updated to Jelly Bean, yes I tried to upgrade my router....it is out of date, no updates available.  I tried this forum, Verizon help, Motorola help, Centurylink help, Verizon store help.  I did EVERYTHING anyone said might help, except a factory reboot.  Don't want to do that.  Your answer gave me the answer.  My MOTOROLA router is not compatible with a MOTOROLA  phone.  Unbelievable.  Capitalism at it's finest.  So now, I have to go get a new router again..... this is second one in 6 years.

Thanks for all the suggestions and help!

I went into my nearby Verizon store and was given an option to go with Comcast Internet for one year at an "introductory" price of $29.99 a month.  This would include a new router, which should solve my problem.  As customer support....do you know anything about this service?

Comcast broadband is very fast according to Google search. There are complaints about customer service and price hikes. But my broadband service has simular issues. Its how you read the reviews.

The $40 router would have been the way to go after 6 years Smiley Happy
