Why can't I attach pictures to my text messages?

For the last several days whenever I try and send a picture through messaging + it says "Sorry you can't attach this picture to your message." Yet I can send and receive text without a problem. I've tried turning off and back on without success. I have a droid maxx.

Thanks for clarifying, Paramedicdan.  You’re going to access the Verizon Messages app in your settings. Follow these steps to clear the app’s cache: http://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-66161/ . Note on step 4, you are going to do a lot of scrolling, all the way down to Verizon Messages.

If the error continues after this, then once again go through the above steps.  Instead of “Clear cache”, select “Clear Data” and  then “Force Stop.”

Jeepers, that error is no good, Paramedicdan. Thanks for restarting too. A lot of people forget to try that step. We’re wondering about a few things.  First, is the Verizon Messages app up-to-date? To check, follow these steps: http://spr.ly/6586BGPVK . Additionally does this error message occur when sending the message on Wi-Fi, mobile data, or both?
