Why cant i talk and surf at the same time?

The part of advanced calling 1.0 that requires both parties of the call to have volte and advanced calling is just the video calling and HD Voice.

Spoken to Motorola and was told that the Droid Turbo is fully capable of dual voice and data. The said that Verizon has disabled this thenselves , and not only on the Turbo but the Moto X 2nd. So now that just pisses me off. Because since they did it intentionally then why weren't we the consumers informed? Because they want that money and they don't care if you return it because then they just get another $35. Scumbags. After 12 yr with Verizon I'm actually p.o to no end. And why hasn't an actual rep answered to this post? Suspicious

What extra money??? What extra money is Verizon getting by preventing you from using data???? Unless you have unlimited data, when Verizon prevents you from using data they are preventing you from giving Verizon MORE money. Your argument does not make sense.

I have to agree with csintl Oct 31, 2014 9:47 AM.

Verizon has said that I live in a full 4G coverage area (Rochester NY, one of the first areas to have 4G go live) yet my actual experience with connecting to and staying on 4G LTE with 3 different phones (HTC Thunderbolt, Apple iPhone5, and Motorola Razr Maxx HD) is and continues to be disappointing. Most times, in the areas I spend 90% of my day in, I am 3G or 1X whether indoors or outdoors.

Verizon 4G LTE coverage maps need to be more honest and correct as they are touted in ads boasting their coverage. Even in full 4G LTE zones the actual coverage is not there.

If you spend most of your day in areas without 4G, you are not able to talk/data on Verizon phones anyway. Verizon only has simultaneous talk/data on 4G phones and then ONLY if you have a 4G signal. Talk/data is not available in areas without 4G, so being in a non-4G area for 90% of your day will mean you will not have talk/data for 90% of the time.

I've been able to talk/surf or Talk/check email or talk/navigate on my HTC Thunderbolt & RMHD when my notifaction bar shows I'm 3G.

Better check before you say it can't be done without being full 4G

Yes, you are correct. That is the ONE Verizon phone which does not have the requirement of having a 4G signal(or wifi) to do voice/data.

For the other 95%+ of Verizon smartphone users, they are not so lucky.

It is sad that some of the "top" contributors on Verizon's forums are constantly putting the blame and responsibility on their fellow customers. It makes NO sense to answer a question with another question that is completely unrelated. "did you test this specific feature in the store"? Honestly, that would take hours with the amount of features smart phones are loaded with now. If you don't have a relevant and constructive response to help a peer, then keep your subjective comments out of it.
