Wi-Fi Connection Problems

We have had two Droid 2 devices, and we currently have a Droid 4 and a Droid Razr Max.  All of these devices have had trouble connecting to our home network. We can connect if we reset both the router and the cable.  However; this does not help us if we want to avail ourselves to other networks outside of our domicile.

We've tried troubleshooting this issue for years. I have not yet seen a definitive solution. Is the solution to switch to a provider without this issue? I would rather not.  I  like my Droid, and I am happy with Verizon in general.  Does anybody have a solution or work around?
