having many issues with my 16gb razr

I have been not able to receive text messages from other carriers at all and not Verizon customer messages are intermittent since 3/16/2012. I have had 3 trouble tickets done and I am always told they find nothing wrong. I have done 8 master resets and over 12 power cycles plus put the phone into safe mode and nothing seems to help.. I even went as far calling Motorola and I was informed that the razr is having issues receiving texts and they will have a update pushed out my late April early May .Verizon refuses to send out a comparable device so I can text. So I am stuck without texting until this update gets processed. Can anything be done to help with this???

Sounds like your phone and or a tower you use because I'm not hearing much about people not receiving text messages. I would get on their butts and make them give you another one (refurb of course)

Sounds like you have done all the things one would try in troubleshooting this.  If it still does it in Safe Mode after a Factory Reset, I'm wondering if you can take it in to a VZ dealer and test it in front of them.  If it fails it would seem they would go to bat for you in getting another.

I'm not aware of any wide scale problem with people not being able to get text messages - but I'm just a lowly user so what do I know? http://fun.resplace.net/Emoticons/Cool/cool07.gif

The only text message issue I was aware of was with Smart Actions sending out a text message when there was no rule in place for it to do so.  And that was just fixed in an update - today I think.

I can see where you'd be frustrated.  The only thing I can think of is to go to a dealer and see if a face to face encounter is more productive.

Here is a neat update. I was called by Lynne at Verizon Wireless Executive Services and after some discussion and telling her all of the issues. She has decided to send me out a Droid Razr Maxx 32GB free of charge with no fees to me. I don't even have to extend my contract. So I guess when the corporate office finds out you are having major issues they really are able to come through.

That's awesome!  I'm just a user like you so I have no reason to stick up for Verizon, but I honestly have been impressed with their customer service.   This is the kind of service that builds customer loyalty.

Thanks for getting back and sharing the update and enjoy your new phone!

What do you mean by a RAZR MAXX 32GB?  Is that the phone with the 16GB internal and 16GB SD card or did they come out with a phone with 32 GB internal...and as an FYI since no one at Verizon would EVER tell you this(unless you find the tiny disclaimer at the bottom of the MAXX page)...if the phone has the 16GB internal memory you can only use 8gb.  The other 8GB are not available for your use due to the OS.  So a MAXX with 16GB internal and 16GB SD card is really only 24GB for the user...

hey JP1964. I notice you doing a lot of dissing on Verizon blogs. Any phone has a gross memory and a net memory. So Verizon isn't lying at all. Its just doing what all other companies do. If you were technologically advanced at all you may have know this or that the bloatware can be removed in less than 2 minutes.

Look at the big brains on Brad...lol...yes I have been busting on Verizon because in my opinion they are shady at best....

Ok Bradley, lets start with the memory thing...I am typing slow because you abviously arent too fast.. I totally understand the difference between gross capacity and net capacity.  I will get off the memory thing if you show me one other company where net capacity is only half the gross capacity that they so LOUDLY advertise...just one

OK Bradley, on to the 21 hours of talk time...now if this isnt just a blatant out and out lie I dont know what is.  Show me a phone battery usage chart that has over 12 hours of talk time and has ANY battery left.  If they are claiming 21 in a lab under ideal conditions I would think the average user should get atleast 12  dont you Bradley??

As for the crap apps installed on the phone you are again missing the point Bradley.  The point is not whether it can be removed by an Einstien like you Big B...the fact that it is there at all is ridiculous. Blockbuster/Netflix/Amazon Kindle....really???....just another way for Varizon to make a buck...

Ok to summarize because I am sure you probably forgot what we talked about in the first paragraph Bradley...here's what you can do to shut me up and put me in my place and defend your precious Verizon(I can almost hear the trumpet blare everytime I say there name....)

1.  Show me one other company that so LOUDLY advertises the gross capacity of their product where the net capacity is actually only half of the gross capacity.

2.  Show me a DROID RAZR MAXX battery chart that has just 12 hours of talk time on one charge...that should be super easy since this phone gets 21 hour of talk time...right?

3.  Have a nice day...lol

I have just got my Droid. You have said everything perfect.  For me, I absolutely hate this fun.  I have had it for about 3 weeks now.  I have had it replaced because, one day it just decided to shut off and never come back on, I over slept and was late to work because of it.  I thought this thing was supposed to be lighting fast?!  I have yet to be amazed by the so called "amazing droid!"  That whole memory thing is absolute bull crap, I totally agree.  And for the ones who have had something negative to say about your post, I say this: I as a consumer should be able to walk in to a place of business and expect to get great customer service, honesty and very, very knowledgeable employees.  I should not have to ask to get all the fine print details given to me, they should be explained to me without asking, especially when the bold print in black and white says something totally different than what it really is.  That is why most other businesses do the same thing, because they know it gets the consumer to come in and buy what "the consumer wants!" It is amazing that when you walk into a verizon store and look at the phones, they have the little cards in front of them stating information about the phone and price.  On them under the price that they are advertising, it will say price is after mail-in-rebate.  So why the heck can they not do that with the memory.  It should say something like, "your phone is equipped with 200GB of storage, but after we (verizon) use it for all the useless information, bullcrap apps, and the OS you the consumer will have unlimited storage of 2GB, and if that is not enough than you can also buy an additional SD card from our store, for only your kidney!"  Enjoy!  Can you hear me now?!
