what is preferred network type for droid razr m

my phone is currently only using 3G instead of 4G...my connection is very poor and/or i get errors showing I am no longer signed into network.

What is the network type I am supposed to be using? What happened to my service connection?

Try setting the network type to LTE/CDMA.  You can also try removing the SIM, power down the phone, resinsert the SIM and then power the phone back up.
