Hey all,

Ive found a couple forum posts from back in the day (like 2012 or so) saying that Verizon-side routers have stopped blocking incoming Port 80. However, today I have been unable to receive incoming Port 80 traffic on my network. Just wondering; is this still the case?

Sub question, if incoming is blocked on residential connections, is incoming Port 80 not blocked on business connections?

Thanks everybody,

Liam

Port 80 is used for TR-069 backdoor access for Verizon/Fios routers. To use this port, you need to use your own router that do not operate other services on port 80.

When you use your own router, VZ can no longer provide quality support as the majority of troubleshooting tools and logs reside on the VZ/Fios router.

I don’t think you quite understand my question; I know that Verizon does not “support” third party routers, but you are able to use them and are able to port forward incoming traffic through them. This is the issue, not that verizon won’t troubleshoot my router. It’s my connection that is the issue.

Thanks,

Liam

Ok, you are asking whether the VZ blocks port 80 from the service provider edge. The answer is also NO. You probably have some configuration problems in your router or the server.
