Crammed by a Known Crammer

I noticed that my latest Verizon bill (landline only) had tripled.  After looking at the detail, I saw charges from Silv Communications for services that I didn't authorize.  Two calls to Verizon, with escalation to a supervisor and I was told that I needed to contact the third-party.  A quick internet search showed that there are 100s of FCC and FTC complaints about this company.  Why is Verizon blameless in this?  They have no trouble adding the charges to their customers' accounts, but throw up their hands and say "Not Us"  when it comes to removing them.   Verizon must be getting a percentage of these charges.  I never authorized Verizon to use my account as a credit card for third parties.  I'm aware NOW that I can block future charges - how about having your customers opt IN for third party charges, instead of ASSUMING they allow it.    Why is the burden for removing them on me?

Assuming they are a ligitmate company providing services, Verizon is required by law to add charges they report to your bill.

Doesn't help if they are known to make false charges.
