How can I block phone calls from a specific number?

Hi all,

I've been receiving two or three phone calls a day (some at 3 in the morning!) from what seems to be a recording of a man talking. I'd love to simply block the number from being to call us. Is there any way to do that?

Please note, I've tried calling the number but it goes to a recording there, too.

Hey stanenba, turn on the receiver and listen for dial tone press *60 then follow the instructions for the Call Block options.  The phone number(s) you enter on your Call Block list wil be repeated to you.

Dialing *60 does not do anything (I just get a busy tone). Any other ideas?

Hey stanenba, in some areas you must dial 3 to turn on/off Call block after dailing either *60 or *80.

Thank you, but after I dial either *60 or *80 it just rings busy. I tried dialing 3 as well, but all I hear is a busy signal.

Isn't there someone I can call/click to to block the number?

I keep getting calls every day and it's very frustrating.

Hey do you know if you have the Call Block feature on your account because without it you will not be able to block numbers that call you.

I get a busy signal when dialing *60 and/or 3 also.  I checked my Verizon features and call blocking isn't an option that I can find.

do you know, if what you have is plain jane phone service   they call it copper or POTS,  or do you have FIOS and Fiber Telephone.

Fios has a digital telephone which has a convenient website for you to log into and you just type the numbers you want to block.   www.verizon.com/fiosvoice

if you have regular plain jane pots or fios (non digital voice) then you would use the call block feature, but you have to have it on your account.

you can find out if it's on your account at www.myverizon.com

If it's on your account, then follow the instructions outlined here. (put your zipcode if it asks for it)

If it's not working AND you have it on your account then you can call repair at 888-553-1555

IF you don't have it on your account, then you can call into 1-800-VERIZON

If I may add my 2 cents to the conversation, I have used the call block option to block calls from specific phone numbers but I have noticed that it only takes so many of them.

There are two other methods I use to minimize unwanted calls:

(1) I am on the National Do Not Call list.  That eliminates the majority of calls from telemarketers.  The website is donotcall.gov.

(2) I myself can't stand repeated automated calls from 800 or 888 numbers.  I will see them on my caller ID display and no voice mail message is ever left.  It's very annoying when calls like that are made over and over again until I respond.  For those, I always have to call back and ask to be put on the company's "do not call list".  Unfortunately the National Do Not Call list isn't failproof but I find that this works as well.  And soon as I start hearing the script about what these telemarketers want, I cut them off because I don't even want to hear about what this company is trying to sell.

Once you ask to be put on the "do not call" list, there is nothing these telemarketers can do and they have to comply.  And if you're dealing with someone who still won't take "no" for an answer, you can also threaten to report the matter to the state attorney general and I'll guarantee that they will leave you alone.  It's your right not to be bothered.

You can also use the Verizon feature to block all anonymous calls.

Cotrawise, you can block up to 25 numbers manually if you have Call Intercept even if you do not have the additional Call Block feature.

I have the call block feature and I can NEVER add anyone, no matter what.  When I push the #01# it always tells me that its not available for this feature, what the purpose then?

I have a number that calls constantly with no talking....

Tell me how to block, thats why I am paying for this feature!

I was told by a Verizon customer service. that in order for me to block unwanted calls. I had to log in and do it myself thru this site. However, I can't find where to go. and I am getting calls every 5-10 mins and as early as 6am.. it seems from weird #s not 10 digits #s but 5 or 12 digits #s who are trying to fax to my home.

can you tell me where to go or what to do.

thank you

I'm with you.  I can't do any of this either.  I've been trying for an hour on Verizon's website and I don't see how to block a call.  Nothing's working.

OK - I just found it.  Verizon does not offer this service in Massachusetts.  That explains it!  (But why don't they?)

Some switches/central offices don't have the ability for the feature to be programmed (esp. in the North East area (NY, MA, RI, CT).  There could be more.  It's a feature seen on mostly former GTE areas (California, Texas, Florida) & former Bell Atlantic areas (VA, MD, DC, DE, NJ, PA).

I think it's crap that we have to sign up for FiOS Digital Voice (I will *NEVER* trust VoIP), and I don't want to have to dial 10 digits to call down the street, LOL.
