Land Line Voice Mail

Tried to retrieve my voice mail on my landline, and everytime I call the Verizon voicemail number it keeps asking me to enter my temporary pin number.  Is anyone else having this problem?  I tried from my home phone and cell phone and both say the same thing.  I'm not too happy with Verizon's customer service.  I called and it says the wait time is over an hour!!  Can't find a chat line.  Very frustrated.

It use to be the last four digits of your number. Then a few years ago it was all zeros.

hard to say what it is now. On the cellular side it was last four of the number. Maybe the same

Thank you for your help, the last 4 numbers of my phone number worked. Apparently there was a voicemail upgrade on 5/31/18 and was supposed to get information in the mail (which I never received). After getting my VM setup again, I received a VM from Verizon stating there was an upgrade and info about it including contact phone numbers and www.verizon.com/voicemailupgrade if I have questions. I’m surprised I didn’t even receive a text from Verizon on it. Problem resolved but not impressed with their customer service. Thank you again I appreciate your response. Have a wonderful summer.

Very helpful post.  Vzn had done a "voicemailupgrade" in October and supposedly sent a packet in USMail.  So our old PIN didn't work.  I used last 4 of phone number and re-established my desired PIN and greetings.    THANK YOU DeniseR,   no credit to Vzn.

Thanks for writing this - I'm having the same problem. I was entering the passcode I had set up but it won't take it - how do you get the temporary passcode? Do you have to reset your voice mail entirely and thus lose your message? This is ridiculousness. (I didn't get that mail either)

This question is a little harder for me to answer. There use to be a way to simply reset your voicemail via entering 13 zeros and # etc. but I don’t believe that works any longer.

on verizons end you could call and have them reset it so at least it is functional and then access it like I told the last poster. I know on Verizon wireless web portal this is something you can do via that web portal.

this Verizon site may be able to assist you.

To get into my voicemail I just used the last 4 digits of my phone # then reset to a new number.  When I finally got to the voicemail it gave me phone numbers to call if I had questions.  Since I don't get my bill in the mail, and I don't print the online invoice it was probably printed somewhere on the bill.  Very frustrating.

I have similar issue where Verizon stated that I would receive something in the mail about the new voice mail update for my landline.  After many weeks, I have received nothing in the mail and have no clue how to properly set up the new voice mail.  Calling Verizon is of no help as I either go in a circle with their recorded "operator" or when I do get someone they don't seem to know what I'm talking about (ask who changed my voice mail, etc. as if they have not been trained on the "upgrade" in landline voice mail.  I'm also ticked off that the "new" and not improved service has to sound off the phone number of the spam/robo caller before getting to the message itself.  Why do I have to listen to all that?  The old and better phone message system was far better and easier to use.  Does anyone know where I can get some easy and common sense instructions on usage?  What I found on Verizon is of no help to me as I don't know many of the terms they use or what the termed functions do.  Thank you!

Ron, I found this info from a Verizon employee.  Hope this will help you. Denise

I appreciate your feedback about the changes being made to voice mail, WENMAH45. I certainly want to help you find a way to enjoy all the hard work we’ve been putting into the enhancements. There is a way to adjust your playback options within your voice mail as sprmankalel mentioned. After accessing your voice mail (by dialing *86 or your own number followed by the # to interrupt your greeting and enter your PIN), you can use the guide at https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/how-to-use-voice-mail to find how to get to General Options based on your area. In General Options, you can edit your envelope information such as Autoplay and Call Back Number Prompting or Message Review Options, depending on where your number is based from. Does this help?

I called my phone number, waited for my vm. I usually hit *, to hear how many messages I have. Today, I was asked for a pin number. I hung up and tried again. Now a mechanical voice is prompting me to leave a message...on my own vm!

I tried chat. The first person told me it was a billing problem and transferred me. Billing transferred my to technical, who asked questions I wasn't comfortable answering. How do I resolve this?

Thank you
