Landline sending calls

A person left a voicemail on our landline answering machine today asking us to stop calling his number repeatedly. When I called him back, he told me that his mobile phone has been receiving phone calls our landline number for months and when he answers, some sort of automated message tells him to press 4 to hear a message (or something similar) and when he presses the number, it gives him some wacky message that doesn't make any sense.
When I get home, I checked and learned that our Verizon landline phone bill actually indicates that calls are being made to the guy's number – and it's clearly not us or our kids, because it shows outgoing calls at times when we all traveling.
I'm going to call Verizon in the morning – any ideas on what could be going on?

I have the same problem but my landline sends calls to numbers from my phone book.
