Recording VOD or PPV

Is it possible to record a Video on Demand or Pay per View event for later viewing?  I apparently am not able to do  this with my Home Media DVR.

You can record the PPV channels like 1000, or ESPN or Center Ice, but not On Demand

Thanks...I just wanted to make sure it wasn't my DVR.  I would think you should be able to record an On Demand program.  Some shows don't stay available On Demand like subscription shows/movies.  I think I could record them with my Tivo way back when.
