I am beginning to think it's a scam by Verizon. I got Fios in Aug 17 and since then 5 of those months I was charged for DA calls. 13 total calls. I keep having to call and get the charges removed. It even happens on days nobody is home. I didn't even realize DA was still a thing since everyone uses the internet now. I saw numerous complaints from people saying the same thing happened to them. I magine how many people don't even notice the charge and just pay it. Seems a little odd so many people have the same problem. Call them to have the charge removed and check your bill every month. I'm sure it will happen again.

(other reply may be better, but) Do you have a cordless phone where a neighbor is getting a free ride on calls, and either does not know or does not care when they dial DA on your circuit?
Can you access phone records and see the next call placed from your line? then call that number ....
Per the other poster, DA does exist, is labor which should be paid for (olden days excluded), and DA used to ask if you would like to be connected to the number they find for you as a free added bonus. Olden days, to avoid the DA charge, you could order phone books for any city in the US, at not charge.
