old outdoor phone wires

Who do you contact to get rid of old Verizon overhead outdoor phone wires?  I am having some home improvements done and need to have these wires removed ASAP?

I guess someone does not like the comment about stealing copper. I though it was rather funny. But it may promote climbing polls, and someone could get hurt.
