Account in collections, but agents can’t find it?

I have an account in collections from 2021. I called in to the account recovery team to try to resolve, but that number directed me just to the generic Verizon wireless customer service. They could not find the collection account. They said I needed to find the account number to pay them, but I don’t have an old bill or email. Anyone I can contact to try to resolve this?

There might be a possibility that your account has been sold, we recommend checking for additional information with the credit bureaus or any other agency that could have contacted you recently.
