Can’t Receive Autopay

So I got a new bank account and the app seemingly wouldn’t allow me to stop using my old account for autopay or heck might be user error either way my bad trust me it wasn’t intentional as Verizon isn’t coming off as the very forgiving type.  It tried to charge my old account again, I paid the bill using my new account and again tried to set the autopay to my new account.  Next billing cycle again tried to charge my old account and I tried to update it to my new account but it wasn’t working.  After hours dealing with account representatives multiple different times we were able to get it sorted out and they deleted the old account for me but now I can’t use the bank payment method and with that being the case I can’t receive the autopay discount that’s advertised.  Is this legal? This feels like discrimination due to an app issue with outrageous fees and false advertisement with an autopay discount that I can’t receive. I’ll take my business elsewhere if they’re too good for my money and want to be spiteful to not give me my autopay discount.  Anyone else have this issue?

We are sorry to read that you had this issue with your AutoPay. If you already set up your automatic payments with a valid method of payment, you will start receiving the discount on your upcoming bill. If you have other questions, let us know.

This is absolutely absurd. I have read responses in other threads by other Verizon reps , autogenerated responses stating that the only way to set up autopay now is if you have a Verizon Credit Card! No personal bank account, no personal debit or credit cards, other than a Verizon card! I have been having this issue for months, my account states it doesn’t qualify for bank automated payment, so when I add one of many credit or debit cards, each one of them states “does not qualify for autopay” next to it!!!! How is this legal to advertise this as a broad statement but to make it eligible only to people who can qualify for a Verizon credit card? Now I understand why so many people are angry! I’ve had 2 months in a row when I throughly my autopay was being used and discount received just to find out it did not pay the bill, did not give me the discount, and on top of that it charged a late fee!!! How can you do this to people? I’m paying almost $50 higher than I should be because of this new issue!

Hello, we are sorry to see you are experiencing issues with receiving the autopay discount, just be clear so there is not any confusion, the auto pay discount is available to customers who use a Verizon Credit Card or a checking or savings bank account and sign up for paper-free billing. Please ensure the paper-free billing option is turned on or the discount will not be triggered.
