Disconnected after payment arrangement

I have a payment arrangement that has been scheduled and Verizon disconnected my service 2 days before the arrangement. I am unable to speak with a human regarding this issue so I am out of luck in an emergency situation. What is the point in telling customers the payment arrangement will stop the disconnection if it wonโt?
