I am currently a Verizon Mobile customer and my acct is active and in good standing. My current acct is the first and only account I have ever had with Verizon.
However, I got an alert that a collections charge for $1500 was just added on to my credit report. It dropped my credit score over 109 points. I am in the process of trying to get an auto loan as my engine just blew. But with my credit dropping over 100 points this week, I am getting denied everywhere which is costing an arm and a leg for renting a car, and that is taking away from the money I have saved for a down payment on a car.
Verizon Customer service says they can’t see anything regarding that acct and give me a diff phone number to call … I’ve waited on hold for hours, just for them to give me the run around and send me to someone else.
Then today I received a letter in the mail from IC Systems, who claim they are handling the debt collection for Verizon.
This acct is not mine. I have never had another Verizon acct. I cannot afford to wait 30+ days for this mistake to be corrected. And Verizon is not helping me at all.
I thought Verizon was known for their good customer service. Maybe I was misinformed or things have changed and they fell off.
This isn’t just a small billing error to be taken lightly. This incorrect collection reporting has a serious and costly negative impact on my life rn.
It is absolutely ridiculous that Verizon is acting like their hands are tied when their name is both, the original creditor and active acct holder that is listed on the collection.

Hello, Cnp1. This is definitely concerning to hear as you deserve some answers regarding the account in question. I know this has been an upsetting process for you, and it is our goal to ensure you are set up for the best success. Once an account goes into collections, we don't have access to view the account. It would be best to use the contact information for the collections' company to resolve this issue.

Sorry to hear about your experience. If this other account is not yours, I'd check with all 3 credit reporting agencies to see if anything else fishy is showing up in your credit report, then put out a fraud alert with all of them.

I'm not a Verizon employee, just another customer trying to help.

I am in good standing and been a Verizon customer for 10 years. Received a call from IC systems telling me that I owe 276.00 for a past due bill for Verizon. Called Verizon and they said my account was put on “fraud alert”. They said my account was hacked and they(Verizon) will look into it.
