Proof of payment

Regarding large business account:  After paying a $500+ early termination fee over the phone for an employee who had left the company, I was not given proof of payment on the account.  I was transferred 4 times over a 45 minute phone call without any resolution.   All I needed was an email of the the payment.  No one could help me.   They could certainly send me an email to pay the account, but could not send an email receipt of the payment.  What kind of service is this?
