For a whole host of reasons, I do not give out my wireless telephone number. Kept the landline for all those occasions when financial institutions et al want a contact number. With 2 step confirmation becoming more prevelant, is there a way to get sms on a digital voice landline in a similar fashion to how wireless sms works? My hunch is "no" but am hopeful someone here has already tackled this.

These forums are peer to peer and so don't expect Verizon to reply.
I believe the answer is you cannont receive SMS, but since I am not positive I never replied to OP.

I have same question. It seems that I should be able to receive text messages on the
IPad associated with the phone number of my Fios triple play account.
It seems very strange that you have not received an answer.

Actually you can. The sender will get a message back stating they're trying to send a text to a landline and do they wish to continue. The sener will incur a charge ($.25 I believe) and you would get a voice version of the text.
