No home phone or internet- what's the problem?

I have no dial tone on the home phone & no internet. I've heard there's other people in my area without service (716 are code). I heard it might be 2-3 days before it's fixed. Why can't I find any info on what the problem is & when it will be fixed? Will I receive a credit on my bill for being without service? I'm having to use more data from my cell phone- thankfully that is AT&T so it works...

They do have pages that are suppose to dislay problems. Unfortuantely we often have to nag someone to post that there is a problem. Nagging on these forums is not good as they are peer to peer.
