Verizon Discontinues Elderly Service BY MISTAKE, 5-7 days to resolve

Verizon discontinued my mother's phone service after returning TV set top. I spent hours with verizon support, both by phone and by chat, only to discover they can't simply fix their error. I was told they need to transfer the number from "Verizon to Verizon" (whatever that means) which will take 5-7 business day, though "it will be expedited" with no promises. Meanwhile a woman, over 90, by herself, has lost her means of contact with her children (no daily calls) or anyone else. I am nearing the point of finding another provider for her as well as my family and me.

This issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent.

Not to mention she's also unable to call 911 should she need.
