Verizone doesn't know the meaning of customer service

I just wasted an hour on-line and on my cell phone talking to a computer trying to figure out why my home phone has no dial tone.  After an hour and several "oh so helpful tips", I finally saw my neighbor (while on hold outside on my cell phone) and asked him if his home phone was working.  He said that it was not.  It seems SO strange to me that the "computer customer service agent" was ready to set up a service appointment for me to be FURTHER inconvenienced because it "couldn't be determined if the issue was with the verizone network or my home line".  Obviously SOMETHING is wrong with the verizone network!!!  There is no such thing as customer service in the country any more.  Verizone, YOU STINK!!!!!!!!!!!!
