For certain plans Verizon doesn't charge either. Notably FIOS which includes a bunch of "free" services with Fios Digital Voice.

Thanks for your reply but Verizon does not offer FIOS in my area thus my issue still remains... Why is Version charging a rather large fee for Caller ID on land lines when Comcast includes it at no extra charge?

Obviously I don't know what plans Verizon has in your area. I had "included" callerid in my plan many years before I got FIOS. So ask what plans are available in your area.
Remember these forums are peer to peer.

Comcast is providing a digital voice service similar to Verizon's digital voice service. Those services frequently include a number of features in the price.
Your posts indicate you do not have FiOS so your phone is a true copper landline. That phone service is the old style and every feature on it is a central office function you must subscribe to in order to receive it.

One NON-FIOS Verzion plan, and there may be others, that includes unlimited calls and callerid is Verizon Freedom Essentials. OP you need to check what plans are available in your area.
