cannot access voicemail via "My Verizon"

I just upgraded to FIOS digital voice.  I can access call history etc. from my verizon homepage, but I cannot access my voicemails.  It tells me I need to initailze my voicemail before I can view on the web.  I've already initialized my voicemail and still have this message.  Has anyone seen this issue and is there a solution?

TEXT of initialize message is below:

You MUST initialize your mailbox before using the online account manager to retrieve messages or change Voicemail settings. Please complete the following steps: 1. Sign out of the online account manager 2.Dial 1-888-2FIOSVM and follow the easy steps to initialize your mailbox 3.Sign back into your online account manager. Now you'll be able to manage your voicemail settings and retrieve messages.
