I 'm interested in adding ExpressVPN (or a similar) router based VPN to my home Internet. I currently use a G1100 router and I have access to a G3100 if that would make this easier.
Can I add ExpressVPN (or similar) router based VPN to either of the mentioned? I'd like to avoid the purchase of a router with ExpressVPN already added or any of the brands that are mentioned to be formattable for VPN. I like the G1100 or the G3100 because they seem quite easily managed (MoCA etc) regardless of the Internet branding. I use the G1100 currently behind my 'owned' modem with Comcast/Xfinity.
This isn't for a connection to my workplace but just a VPN for personal use.
I'd appreciate any thoughts.

The current official firmware does not provide VPN client capabilities and I doubt there are any on the roadmap.
If you own the router in terms of hardware, feel free to build your own router firmware from scratch and flash it to the eMMC. You cannot piggyback on the official VZ firmware and VZ does not provide resource in terms of amending the official firmware. For applicable licensure and other legal notices, feel free to contact Verizon Legal.
