Just recently had fios installed a week ago. I'm paying for gigabit speeds but every speedtest i ran is only giving me half of that.
1. I'm hardwired from the router into my pc.
2. CAT5-E cable is being used
3. My Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller is gigabit capable after checking the adapter properties
4. I restarted the router as well as my pc to no avail
5. I spoke with tech support last night for about 45 minutes which resulted in the rep contacting the networking department and confirming that they will be running a diagnostic on my network over the course of 24 hours and that he'll contact me this evening.

I'd try multiple speed test sites using different servers. If I use Ookla I get 10 different results with 10 different servers.

I've tried multiple servers on different sites. They're all SLIGHTLY different but no significant differences.

You could try all of them but it will never come close to verizons proprietary servers.
you get lower speeds because there are real world issues like failed hops, bad routing and congestion even overloaded servers all down the pipe.
that is why Verizon only accepts their test and no one else’s.

True that's why Verizon only accepts their test. But it is not true that their speed test is the only one that will give you correct results. There is at least 5 servers on Ookla that regularly use and always get good speeds. I'm just pointing out that not all servers are capable of testing a gig. Whether you use Ookla or whatever other site. Ookla will auto select a server and a lot of people don't to change it.

Yep a friend of mine on dsl reports sent me a link to the ookla gig test site.
although on verizons speed test (when I have to swap routers) it shows perfect speeds within that 940/880 and higher. On the other test sites I may average at 900/700 +/-
but I had 15/1 from Time Warner for over 20 years. So as long as it’s stable I have no complaint. 😀
