Installation Issues - Fios internet and home phone

What should I do next?

There was no information as to what Verizon needed or what I might need, or what I might need to decide before the fiber installer arrived which has led to surprises.

Verizon required a dedicated electrical outlet and I was not made aware of that until after the installation was complete. I had had an electrical outlet with two sockets installed for a basement work area and now one of those sockets and the post the outlet was mounted on has been taken over by Verizon.

The art board I use with that work (which was a gift around 45 years ago) is now screwed up on the post and being used to hold all the new Verizon equipment. The art board has been damaged by the screws that go all the way through it and the many staples gunned into it. Despite the damage, this is not ok with me and I want my art board back.

When the installer and I spoke, I asked for an ethernet wall jack. Instead, there was no attempt to fish a wire though, he just drilled (surprise) right through the 1850’s fir floor. Now, there is a cable looping up through the floor with a plastic rj45 clip on the end.

When I made the appointment I had asked if I needed new telephone equipment and was told I would not (I checked twice) but what I own is not working reliably on the new system and the new system requires a new telephone. The installer, a super nice guy, did not think the old phone was going to work at all and although it was working when he left, now it is intermittent. I will get another phone but I would have liked to have been prepared for this.

Thanks very much.
