I'm trying to set up a home server, following up on some previous conversations, I was able to hijack the built-in guest network to act as a separate VLAN for my server. I want my server to be reachable from the external network however I'm running into some issues with port forwarding. I found one other discussion asking about this, but this was for the G1100, and I have the G3100. I also have a wired ethernet connection. Currently it seems like any connection in or out of the guest network is getting filtered. I tested by using netcat to listen on a socket and enable port forwarding. If the server is in the main network I can connect to the server with no problem, but if the server is in the guest network then it looks like the packets get dropped (no syn-acks). Does anyone know for certain what's causing this, and if there is a way around it?
With the current GUI limitations, port forwarding on VLAN 10 and 30 are impossible.
Any reasons to not place the server in your main network? Are you afraid of someone hacks your server and therefore using it as a launch pad against other devices on your network?
