I recently ungraded my Fios gateway router and extender to the new Gigibite router and extender. I’m looking to turn off the WiFi on the router(allowing my Orbi mesh to handle the WiFi) and using the new extender in my office for WiFi via the coax connection from the router to extender. When I turn off the WiFi on the router the extender can see the Fios network. I had this exact setup on the old gateway system. Did I set something up wrong? TIA.
No. Unfortunately, with the new router and extender, when you turn off wifi in the router it also does it to the extender. Hopefully that is something that get fixed in an update.
Thanks for the reply. Makes no sense that you were able to on the older router/extender , but not the new one.
The problem is that now-days the devices are trying to be as "smart" as possible. Then, what happens if I need customization?
Yes true. Now I have two competing WiFi ‘ s for bandwidth and channels. Might have to give back the Fios extender and pick a a Orbi satellite.
