Use second router as a wireless extender

I have two G3100 routers. I am trying to use the second one as a bridge and put it in a section of my house with the lower signal. Is there a way to do this without having the second one hooked to the first through a long Ethernet cable? Will the second router be able to pick up the signal from the first and thus extend my signal?

I was going through the process of making the second one a bridge and I can't get it  to work. I plugged the second router into my computer using an Ethernet cord. When I disable DCHP and assigned the second router a new IP address outside the range of the original one (192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.254), I can no longer access the second router using the new IP. I then have to reset the router to the factory settings to be able to access it again.
