Moving from Coax to Ethernet shouldn't increase latency by any means for Xbox or anything, but should in fact lead to a decrease. It should also not affect the routes you take.

You will want to run a Speed Test and a Traceroute to actually determine if your Ethernet run is not working correctly. If you could post one up along with a speed test, we can determine if the problem is something upstream or if it's with the connection between the router and ONT.

One thing i did and made a difference. go to the playstation and set a static IP. change the mtu to 1364. then log in to your router and click on network. click on the home/office and click on settings. change the MTU on the router to 1364. save it. go back to network and do the same for broadband. i made a huge difference to mine.

i recently found some new ports that may help to forward:

EA tunnel  UDP 22001

Call of Duty

TCP 28960

UDP 28960, 20500, 20510, 20600, 20610

Xbox Guy,

Excellent post.   Could you clarify one thing for me please?  When you say "Tx Bandwidth: select specify and don't change the numbers"  the box where those numbers would be comes up blank for me but I can write in a number of my choosing.  What number should be in that box?

Thanks,

deltapatch

When I first set it up there was a number automatically but not any more. I would try not doing the specify.

I have been playing cod black ops 2 a lot and have actually been getting a better connection by setting everything back to default.  I did keep a static IP address and port forwarding.

Not sure if this helps but it's all trial and error with me.

the following link may help with setting up qos as I really just used trial and error when I did it.

I tried following that link from my last post (actiontec produced) and it didn't work!

I tried this guide but instead of limiting the connection to my xbox I reservered about 700,000 kbps.

Note: when i chose specifiy the number was pre filled in with over 1 million 100 thousand kbps.

DRASTICALLY IMPROVED PLAY IN COD BLACK OPS 2

so leave max at unlimited and reserve all of it if you want. other than that follow this guide exactly.

the words can be confusing so look at the pictures closely too to make sure you do it right.

Thanks for your post. I have one question .. after clicking Traffic Shaping > Add .. comes up Device : with a drop down menu .. which one am i suppose to select?

My OTN is connected to my router by coax.. and cat5 connected from my router to my ps3..

it must be either Network (Home/Office) , Ethernet/Coax, Broadband Connection (Ethernet/Coax), Wireless Access Point, WAN PPPoE, Default LAN Device, Default WAN device, Default DMZ Device, or all devices..

Click Advanced at the top

then click Quality of Service (QoS)

then click traffic shaping on the left

then click Add

Tx Bandwidth: select specify and don't change the numbers

TCP Serialization: Enabled

Maximum Delay: 5 ms

Queue Policy: Class Based

Click add

Name: xbox or whatever you want

Class Priority: 0 (Highest)

Bandwidth: Maximum: Unlimited

Policy: Priority

That mtu is not advisable.  It will cause packets to be split.
