CR1000A coax antenna?

I have a CR1000A router. I was not given a network extender. Therefore, the coax port is unused.

if I utilize an F-type coax to SMA adapter and attach an SMA WiFi antenna, will it improve my signal strength?

No. The coax port at the back is MoCA. All wireless networks are broadcasted via the internal antenna.
