Here is my situation.
Until today, I had a 14 year-old Actiontec M1424WR router connected to a Synology RT2600ac because the WiFi signal on the Actiontec was too weak to reach three floors down to our TV. Turning off the Actiontec's WiFi & using the Synology'sWiFi (with it's 4 antennas) instead, completely solved the problem.
Today, I upgraded to a CR1000B Verizon router and my speeds have rocketed from about 80 down ~ 80 up to 304 down ~ 120 up. The problem is, once again the Verizon CR1000B WiFi signal is weak.
Is the following a reasonably accurate way to test the speeds I am getting...and if not, is there a way to do this test?
I turned off the Cellular data on my iPhone 13, placed the iPhone next to the Apple TV and ran an OOKLA speed test. It returned: 7.35 down and 1.56 upload. Deeply, deeply disappointing, as using the Actiontec-Synology connection produced results of 56 down ~ 50 up at the TV.
So, it looks like I am going to need to go back to connecting the Verizon router to the Synology router, turning off the WiFi on the Verizon router and once again using the Synology router, with it's 4 antennas, to broadcast the WiFi signal to the TV.
May I trouble anyone who has read this far with two questions:
• Does this seem like a practical and the least expensive solution given that I already have the expensive Synology router?
• If you agree, can you tell me the steps for doing this or point me in the rights direction as to where I could find them? I have read through the manual for the Verizon router and it seems to me that the settings are more complex than they were for the Actiontec router.
Deeply appreciate any help.
